Hello wonderful parents of our 6th-8th grade students. Please take a few minutes to complete the needs assessment survey for our counseling department found here. We strive to meet the needs of your students and we rely on your feedback to know how we are doing and in what areas we can improve. This survey is specific to the counseling department so this is not one that you’ve taken before. Your students will be taking a similar survey the end of October. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Kaufman at email@example.com Thank you for your continued support of the counseling department!
There are several ways to visit with the counselor. Here at Summit Academy Independence Jr. High, you are welcome to stop by Mrs. Kaufman's office between 8:00 and 3:30. However, she may not be in her office as she often spends time in the halls visiting with students, in the College & Career Center, and in the classrooms teaching guidance lessons. If she's not there, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by the front office to make an appointment.
All students participate in the Comprehensive School Counseling Program through (1) School Guidance Curriculum which provides instruction in the classroom to develop the skills needed to be successful, (2) Individual Planning where students, parents, and counselor meet together to plan, monitor, and manage the student's learning activities as well as develop goals for the student's future, and (3) Responsive Services which meet the immediate concerns and needs of the students with an emphasis on prevention.
All students at Summit Academy will meet with the school counselor at least once each year.
Mrs. Kaufman is the 504 File holder at the Independence Campus for 6th-8th grades.
